Mike Kekich and Jack Aker combined on a six-hitter in pitching the Yankees to a 6-1 victory over the White Sox, who suffered their fifth straight defeat. Aker replaced Kekich with the bases loaded and two out in the sixth inning and retired Bill Melton to end the threat. Melton saved the White Sox from being shutout with a run-scoring double in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
