. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Steve Dunning hit a grand-slam for his first major league homer but failed to take advantage of his bat and the Indians had to call on Phil Hennigan to defeat the Athletics, 7-5. Dunning helped stake himself to a 5-0 lead with his jackpot wallop in the second inning, but the A's picked up a run in the third and tied the score with four more in the fifth, three scoring on a homer by Rick Monday.

Hennigan relieved with none out and blanked the A's the rest of the way. The Indians broke a tie in their half of the fifth on a single by Vida Pinson, an infield out and double by Roy Foster. Singles by Jack Heidemann and Ted Uhlaender, around a sacrifice by Hennigan, added an insurance run in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
