Capping a comeback by the Senators, who were held hitless for the first seven innings, Don Mincher smashed a pinch-homer in the 15th to beat the Tigers, 4-3. Paul Casanova singled in the eighth for the Nats' first hit off Mickey Lolich. After another single by Del Unser, two walks forced in Casanova.

Then in the ninth, Dick Billings singled and Casanova homered to tie the score. Lolich left the mound after working 13 innings and Tom Timmerman was the loser in relief on Mincher's homer. [The Sporting News]
