. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Bud Harrelson rapped four straight singles, driving in three runs, and Dave Marshall and Cleon Jones smashed successive homers as the Mets defeated the Pirates, 9-5. Harrelson singled in the fourth before Marshall and Jones connected off Steve Blass to put the Mets ahead, 3-2.

Gary Gentry, who started for the Mets, was ejected from the game in an argument with umpire Shag Crawford over a bunt attempt in the fifth. Tim Foli was on base with a double. Tom Seaver sacrificed, batting for Gentry, and was safe on a fielder's choice. Tommie Agee and Harrelson each singled a run home and Jones drove in another tally with a double. Harrelson added his two other RBIs with a single in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
