Pete Hamm, recalled from Portland (Pacific Coast), gained his first major league victory with the relief help of Ray Corbin when the Twins defeated the White Sox, 6-2. The Twins erased a 2-0 deficit with three runs in the sixth inning on doubles by George Mitterwald and Charlie Manuel, an error on a bunt by Cesar Tovar, single by Rich Reese and balk by Vicente Romo, who caught his spikes on the pitching rubber and fell off the mound.
