One pitch by Ted Abernathy, who replaced Mike Hedlund with two men on base and two out in the ninth inning, saved the Royals' 2-0 victory over the White Sox. On Abernathy's only delivery, Walt Williams lined softly to second baseman Cookie Rojas.
