Undefeated since opening day, Vida Blue racked up his ninth straight victory for the Athletics and posted his fifth shutout of the season with a three-hitter to beat the Brewers, 3-0. Rick Monday gave the southpaw the only run he needed with a homer in the sixth inning. Reggie Jackson provided more elbow room with another homer after a single by Joe Rudi in the seventh.
