Billy Williams drove in six runs with two homers and a triple to power the Cubs to a 9-5 victory over the Giants. Williams homered with two men on base in the first inning, added a solo swat in the third and tripled for two more runs in the sixth. J.C. Martin also homered for the Cubs, connecting with a mate aboard in the second.

As a result of the slugging support, Fergie Jenkins racked up his seventh consecutive victory even though the Giants had homers by Hal Lanier, Bobby Bonds and Dick Dietz. [The Sporting News]
