A three-run rally after two were out in the seventh inning enabled the Reds to squeeze out a 5-4 victory over the Pirates. The Reds were trailing, 3-2, when Ty Cline opened the seventh with a single. After the next two batters were retired, Tony Perez singled to score Cline.

Lee May and Bernie Carbo followed with singles, plating Perez, and Tommy Helms then doubled to drive in May with what proved to be the winning run. [The Sporting News]
