An error that allowed Steve Dunning to score in the seventh inning enabled the Indians' pitcher to defeat the Yankees, 2-1. Dunning reached second base when Bobby Murcer lost his fly ball in the sun in center field. Ted Ford then singled and Dunning was out at the plate on Jim Lyttle's throw to Jake Gibbs, but the catcher let the ball pop out of his mitt.
