Sonny Siebert hit a two-run homer to gain his eighth straight victory as the Red Sox won the second game of a doubleheader, 2-1, after the Orioles romped off with the first game, 12-3. Frank Robinson was the big gun in the Orioles' triumph, smashing two homers and driving in five runs.

In the nightcap, Siebert hit his homer in the fifth inning after George Thomas walked and Doug Griffin rolled into a forceout. The Orioles picked up their run in the sixth. Tom Shopay beat out a bunt but tripped over the bag and sprained his ankle. Paul Blair ran for Shopay and scored on a single by Don Buford and double by Merv Rettenmund. When Brooks Robinson doubled with one out in the ninth, Siebert gave way to Sparky Lyle, who retired the last two batters. [The Sporting News]
