. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Vida Blue gained his 10th straight victory with a lift from Mike Epstein, who smashed a two-run homer to enable the Athletics to defeat the Twins, 3-1. Reggie Jackson doubled ahead of Epstein's homer in the fourth inning.

An error by Bert Campaneris led to an unearned run for the Twins in the sixth and deprived Blue of a shutout. The A's picked up their last tally in the home half of the sixth on a walk to Jackson, single by Sal Bando and sacrifice fly by Rick Monday. [The Sporting News]
