After taking the lead with the aid of homers by Gail Hopkins and Paul Schaal, the Royals exploded for four runs in the ninth inning to clinch an 8-3 victory over the White Sox. In their outburst, the Royals had a double by Freddie Patek, singles by Amos Otis, Bob Oliver and Ed Kirkpatrick and a double by Cookie Rojas. [The Sporting News]
