The Yankees' troubles in their bullpen were emphasized when the Tigers jumped on Lindy McDaniel and Jack Aker for four runs in the seventh inning to gain a 7-4 victory. Singles by Al Kaline, Jim Northrup and Norm Cash tied the score at 4-4 and knocked out McDaniel. After Aker relieved, Northrup beat the throw home on a grounder by Gates Brown to send the Tigers ahead. Singles by Aurelio Rodriguez and Ed Brinkman added extra runs. [The Sporting News]
