The Tigers exploded for five runs in the ninth inning, climaxing their outburst with a homer by Al Kaline, to defeat the Brewers, 9-5. Ed Brinkman drew a walk to open the inning and when Fred Scherman bunted, both runners were safe on a late throw to second.

Dick McAuliffe singled for one run and another scored when Jim Northrup reached first on an error. Kaline then accounted for three runs with his homer. [The Sporting News]
