With two out, Joe Torre doubled in the eighth inning and scored the winning run on a single by Jose Cardenal as the Cardinals defeated the Braves, 3-2, for their seventh straight victory. The only Cardinal casualty was Lou Brock, who was stopped on his 26-game hitting streak.

Hank Aaron drove in one of the Braves' runs with a single in the sixth inning for the 3,153rd hit of his major league career, moving the superstar outfielder past Paul Waner into seventh place on the all-time list. [The Sporting News]
