Johnny Briggs kept the Brewers in the game, batting in their first three runs, before his teammates took over to defeat the Indians, 5-3. Briggs drove in one run with a single in the first inning and homered with a man on base in the sixth to tie the score at 3-3.

The Brewers broke the tie in the same stanza on singles by Ted Kubiak and Rick Auerbach around a groundout by Ellie Rodriguez. Two walks, a sacrifice and single by Rodriguez added an insurance marker in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
