The Pirates put together five straight hits and a sacrifice fly for four runs in the fourth inning and went on to trounce the Cardinals, 10-1. Dave Cash started the barrage with a double and scored on a single by Vic Davalillo and a fumble of the hit by Jose Cardenal. Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell and Richie Hebner followed with singles and Al Oliver made it 4-0 with a sacrifice fly.

The Cardinals' run off Luke Walker in the sixth ended the string of 35 innings of scoreless pitching by the Pirates' staff. [The Sporting News]
