Catcher John Bateman proved his batterymate Bill Stoneman's best friend by knocking in two runs with a two-out double in the ninth inning to bring the Expos a 3-1 victory over the Padres. Ron Fairly singled with one away and Boots Day singled after two out before Bateman came to bat. [The Sporting News]
