Chuck Dobson, who was sidelined for almost the entire first month of the season before stepping into the Athletics' rotation, gained his fourth straight victory, defeating the Red Sox, 6-1. Dobson also drove in two runs with a double and single.

Sal Bando and Dick Green hit homers in the A's attack. Dobson did not yield a hit until two out in the fifth inning when Billy Conigliaro homered for the Bosox' run. [The Sporting News]
