Willie Horton drove in two runs with a homer and double as the Tigers defeated the Twins, 4-1, behind the six-hit pitching of Mike Kilkenny, who posted his first victory of the season. The Twins picked up their run in the second inning on a walk and two singles, but Horton tied the score with his circuit clout in the Tigers' half.

Al Kaline walked in the third and two runs followed on doubles by Dalton Jones and Horton. Dick McAuliffe added the final tally with a homer in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
