Staked to a five-run lead in the first inning, Dick Drago shut out the Red Sox, 7-0, to give the streaking Royals their fourth straight victory and 10th in the last 11 games. Freddie Patek led off with a safe bunt against Jim Lonborg and scored on a wild pickoff throw and single by Amos Otis.

After two walks, Chuck Harrison hit a three-run double and scored himself on a single by Joe Keough. Otis also had three RBIs in the game, accounting for the others with a triple in the fourth and single in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
