With two out in the ninth inning, the Twins rallied for two runs to defeat the Tigers, 5-4. Danny Thompson set off the rally with a single and Steve Braun walked. Fred Scherman then replaced Mickey Lolich and failed in relief, giving up run-scoring singles by Cesar Tovar and pinch-hitter Rich Reese. [The Sporting News]
