Roy White drove in three runs and scored one in support of Fritz Peterson, who pitched the Yankees to a 5-1 victory over the Athletics. The Yankees scored their initial run without White's help in the second inning, but the outfielder had a hand in the next four, driving in one with a sacrifice fly in the third, hitting a single and scoring in the fifth and then capping the Yankees' attack with a two-run double in the ninth.
