Ken Singleton, who hit a two-run homer in the second inning, rapped a sacrifice fly in the 10th to enable the Mets to defeat the Giants, 5-4, in a game that was delayed three times by rain for 54, 26 and 66 minutes between the seventh and ninth innings. Singleton also singled and scored in the fourth. Ken Henderson and Bobby Bonds homered for the Giants.

In the 10th, Bud Harrelson doubled and, after an intentional pass to Al Weis, Ed Kranepool sacrificed. The Giants then walked Donn Clendenon to load the bases and bring up Singleton. [The Sporting News]
