Tony Taylor, appearing in his second game for the Tigers since being acquired from the Phillies, drove in a run with a two-out double in the 10th inning to beat the White Sox, 4-3. Bill Melton homered for the White Sox runs in the first. Jim Northrup, making his first start in the outfield for the Tigers since pulling a leg muscle June 2, rapped two doubles and a single to help tie the score before Taylor batted for him in the sixth.

With two out in the 10th, Al Kaline drew a pass from Vicente Romo. When Gates Brown batted for Fred Scherman, Don Eddy replaced Romo. Ike Brown then went to the plate and walked. Steve Kealey took the mound as the third nitcher of the inning for the White Sox and was tagged for Taylor's double. [The Sporting News]
