Rick Wise not only smashed one of the Phillies' four homers but also pitched a six-hitter to beat the Giants, 9-4. Willie Montanez started the Phillies' slugging with a solo swat in the first inning.

The Phillies added six runs in the second, three scoring on a homer by Wise and two on a round-tripper by Tim McCarver. Oscar Gamble accounted for the fourth homer in the fifth. [The Sporting News]
