Pinch-hitting in the ninth inning, Syd O'Brien came through with a two-run homer to bring the Angels a 5-4 victory over the Red Sox. Joe Lahoud and Reggie Smith homered for the Red Sox.

Alex Johnson, starting in the Angels' outfield for the first time since June 4, collected three hits, driving in one run and scoring another. In the ninth, pinch-hitter Roger Repoz walked and was sacrificed to second before O'Brien batted for Tony Gonzalez and ended the game. [The Sporting News]
