Doubles by Leron Lee and Larry Stahl broke a tie in the ninth inning and enabled the Padres to defeat the Expos, 3-1. After his run-scoring double, Stahl reached third when Rusty Staub booted the ball in right field and crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Angel Bravo.

Cito Gaston homered for the Padres' initial run in the first and the Expos tied the score when Bob Bailey singled, Gary Sutherland walked and John Boccabella singled in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
