Although giving up nine hits and walking six, Jim Lonborg struggled through his first complete game for the Red Sox this season and beat the Angels, 4-1. Clyde Wright, pitching for the Angels, yielded only one hit in eight innings but was the loser when the Red Sox scored two unearned runs in the second on a walk, an error, a passed ball and a single by Lonborg. The Red Sox added their other pair off Dave LaRoche in the ninth on a single by John Kennedy and homer by Carl Yastrzemski. [The Sporting News]
