Rod Carew collected four hits in four official trips to lead the Twins to a 3-2 victory over the Indians. With the score tied, 1-1, Carew tripled in the ninth inning and scored on a single by Cesar Tovar.

A single by Tony Oliva sent Tovar to third and, after Harmon Killebrew struck out, Rich Reese hit a sacrifice fly to plate what proved to be the winning run. The Indians counted in their half of the ninth on a pair of walks and a single by Graig Nettles before Stan Williams saved the game. [The Sporting News]
