The Royals' failures to get a forceout at the plate with the bases loaded in the eighth inning resulted in their defeat by the Yankees, 3-2. Tom Burgmeier, in relief of Bruce Dal Canton, gave up two singles and a walk to load the bases liefore yielding the mound to Ted Abernathy.
