Jackie Brown, making his first start for the Senators since his recall from Denver (American Association), combined with Casey Cox on a six-hitter and shut out the Red Sox, 2-0. Brown allowed five hits in 7 1/3 innings.

The Senators scored in the first inning on a single by Del Unser and triple by Don Mincher. Their other run followed in the seventh on a single by Tommy McCraw, a stolen base and a single by Dick Billings. [The Sporting News]
