After giving up a homer by Fredie Patek to lead off the first inning, Tommy John scattered five hits over the remainder of the route and pitched the White Sox to a 5-1 victory over the Royals. The White Sox scored two of their runs on wild pitches, one by Jim Rooker, who suffered his sixth straight defeat, and one by Jim York. [The Sporting News]
