. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Braves smashed four homers in one inning and won the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, 6-4, but the Expos came back to capture a 5-3 victory in the second game. The Braves were losing the lidlifter, 4-1, before their slugging explosion in the eighth inning. Mike Lum led off with a homer and, after one out, Hal King also hit for the circuit. After a walk to Ralph Garr, Sonny Jackson popped up, but Hank Aaron and Darrell Evans followed with successive round-trippers to tie the Braves' all-time record for most homers in one inning. The Braves also had a previous homer in the game by Garr, while Gary Sutherland hit one for the Expos.

In the nightcap, the situation was reversed with the Braves holding a 3-0 lead before the Expos picked up a pair in the sixth, one run scoring on a boundary belt by Bob Bailey. The Expos then rallied for three runs in the eighth on a double by Jim Fairey, single by Jim Gosger and doubles by Ron Fairly and Ron Hunt. [The Sporting News]
