A three-run triple by Joe Morgan with two out in the sixth inning carried the Astros to a 4-2 victory over the Padres. All three runs were unearned.

Doug Rader opened the stanza with a single. Johnny Edwards grounded to Enzo Hernandez and when Garry Jestadt dropped the throw to second, both runners were safe. After Roger Metzger walked, Ken Forsch struck out and Jim Wynn forced Rader at the plate, but Morgan then came through with his triple. [The Sporting News]
