Winning his own game, Tom Seaver smashed a homer in the eighth inning and pitched the Mets to a 2-1 victory over the Expos. Seaver, who allowed five hits, gave up the Expos' run in the second on a double by Bob Bailey and single by John Bateman.

The Mets caught up in the fourth when Mike Jorgensen singled, stole second and scored on a single by Ed Kranepool. Seaver's homer, deciding his duel with Bill Stoneman, was only the second of the Met pitcher's major league career. [The Sporting News]
