A single by Roger Freed with the bases loaded and two out in the 10th inning drove in two runs and gave the Phillies a 3-1 victory over the Reds. Joe Lis homered for the Phils' first run in the sixth. The Reds, who were no-hit victims of Rick Wise in the previous night's game, continued in their scoring doldrums until doubles by Tony Perez and Bernie Carbo produced the tying run in the ninth.

Larry Bowa singled for the Phillies in the 10th and, after a sacrifice, an intentional pass to Deron Johnson and another walk to Ron Stone loaded the bases. Willie Montanez struck out, leaving it up to Freed, who decided the game with his single. [The Sporting News]
