The Orioles shattered a tie with four runs in the ninth inning and beat the Red Sox, 7-3. Merv Rettenmund walked, Don Buford singled and Paul Blair tripled to break the deadlock. The Orioles then added two more runs before the stanza ended when Frank Robinson was hit by a pitch, Boog Powell singled, Brooks Robinson forced Frank Robinson and Elrod Hendricks singled.
