Jerry Grote collected three doubles in the first game and Bud Harrelson drove in three runs in the second game as the Mets beat the Expos in a twi-night doubleheader, 4-1 and 4-2. A double by Grote in the second inning of the opener produced the Mets' first run and tied the score at 1-1. Singles by Mike Jorgensen and Dave Marshall, around a pass to Cleon Jones, sent the Mets ahead in the fifth and they added two runs in the seventh to clinch the victory for Nolan Ryan.

Danny Frisella, who pitched the last 4 1/3 innings in relief of Ray Sadecki, was the winner of the nightcap. [The Sporting News]
