The Astros rallied for two runs in the ninth inning with the aid of an error and a wild pitch by Gaylord Perry, to gain a 5-4 victory over the Giants, who were stopped on their seven-game winning streak. Denis Menke started the Astros' rally with an infield hit. When Doug Rader bunted, Perry hit Rader in the back with his throw, the runners winding up at second and third.

After an intentional pass to Johnny Edwards, Perry uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Menke to score the tying run. Jack Hiatt followed with a single and Rader crossed the plate with the winning run. [The Sporting News]
