Sam McDowell allowed only four hits in pitching the Indians to a 3-1 victory over the Tigers. Al Kaline homered in the sixth inning for the Tigers' tally. The Indians scored in the fourth on a double by Roy Foster and single by Ray Fosse, added an unearned run in the fifth and wound up with their last marker on a single by Ted Ford and double by Chris Chambliss in the sixth.
