Staked to a seven-run lead in the first inning, John Strohmayer turned in the first complete game of his major league career and pitched the Expos to a 12-4 victory over the Mets. In the first, the Expos sent 12 men to bat and knocked out Charlie Williams before the Mets' rookie starter could retire a batter. Ron Hunt singled in the sixth for his 1,000th major league hit.
