Don Carrithers, who had been recalled from Phoenix (Pacific Coast), turned in five fine innings of relief work and received credit for his first victory of the season when the Giants defeated the Padres, 6-4. The Giants were losing, 3-0, when Carrithers took over. The only run he allowed was on a homer by Nate Colbert.
