Ron Herbel, relieving with two men on base and one out in the ninth inning, induced Bob Bailey to ground into a double play to save the Braves' 6-5 victory over the Expos. The Braves scored two runs in the first, one on a single by Mike Lum. Zoilo Versalles doubled a pair across in the fourth. Lum and Earl Williams provided two more runs with homers in the eighth.
