Jim McGlothlin yielded a homer by Willie Montanez in the second inning, but then gave up only three more hits and pitched the Reds to a 5-1 victory over the Phillies. Singles by George Foster, Johnny Bench, Tony Perez and Bernie Carbo produced two runs and put the Reds ahead in the fourth.
