The batting of Aurelio Rodriguez and Tony Taylor enabled the Tigers to defeat the Orioles, 3-1, behind the five-hit pitching of Mickey Lolich. Rodriguez singled in the sixth inning and scored on a double by Taylor.

Rodriguez and Taylor hit doubles for another run in the eighth. Then, after advancing to third on a long fly by Al Kaline, Taylor counted on a wild pitch. [The Sporting News]
