Getting four-hit pitching from Dan McGinn, the Expos won the first game of a twi-night doubleheader, 4-2, but the relief work of Woodie Fryman, who allowed only two hits in the seven innings, enabled the Phillies to cop the nightcap. 8-4. McGinn, who recently returned from Winnipeg (International), gained his first victory of the season for the Expos. Dave McDonald, Expos' rookie first baseman, batted in two runs with a sacrifice fly and his first major league homer.

In the nightcap, Deron Johnson, who had three hits, doubled in the fifth inning and scored on a single by John Vukovich to break a 4-4 tie. [The Sporting News]
