. . . where the 1970s live forever!

An unearned run that scored on a wild throw enabled the Red Sox to defeat the Indians, 3-2. A homer by Vada Pinson in the first inning and run-scoring single by Graig Nettles in the third gave the Indians a 2-0 lead before Reggie Smith hit for the circuit for the Red Sox in the fifth.

Buddy Hunter walked in the sixth and scored on a triple by John Kennedy, who also crossed the plate when Jack Heidemann threw wildly on the relay from the outfield. Gary Peters, making his first relief appearance for the Red Sox, pitched the last three innings to preserve the victory for Sonny Siebert. [The Sporting News]
