Three unearned runs following an error by Maury Wills enabled the Cubs to break the Dodgers' five-game winning streak, 3-1. With one out in the third inning, Don Kessinger was safe on Wills' boot.

Glenn Beckert followed with a single and Billy Williams hit a sacrifice fly to score Kessinger. Ron Santo doubled to drive in Beckert and Brock Davis singled to score Santo. [The Sporting News]
